QLD FARMERS FLOOD SUPPORT

Thanks to the generosity of our Locals, we have been able to not only make a substantial donation to the Rotary Flood Support appeal and the Pay 4 a Panel – Gidgee Smith Flood Support – flood appeal, but also to send labour to help repair the fences & feed the workers.

Ken Grant, Liz Begg, Malcolm James Dean & Sarah have done us proud. Far from a holiday, they have worked tirelessly along side the amazing BlazeAid volunteers clearing debris from fences, cooking & serving, cleaning the kitchen & toilets, & battling the flies etc. All necessary jobs that need to be done to help get our Farmers back on their feet.

They have worked hard & done us proud. Thankyou guys!

Buderim Rotary Supporting Buderim Scouts

Bunnings, Buderim Rotary & Buderim Scouts – a great combo!

Buderim Scouts are the first local group to avail themselves of our new Bunnings BBQ Community Support program. Having to provide just 2 helpers per shift while Buderim Rotary supplied the experienced members & supplies, made this viable for their club.

It was a busy day & no doubt Buderim Scouts will be extremely pleased when the profits from the day hits their bank account.

The Rotary Club of Buderim is proud to be able to support this great club.

Local clubs can apply for assistance through our Bunnings BBQ Community Support program by completing the online application form.

RCoB Christmas Party 24

Christmas cheer abounds!

Another Buderim Rotary Club Christmas party done & dusted. Once again utilizing the great talents of Anthony & Fiona at Piccalilly’s, we all indulged in a delicious Christmas repast.

Lynne challenged us with a particularly difficult Christmas Trivia quest (well, difficult for some).

A great night, surrounded by wonderful friends. Love being a Rotarian!

Christmas Cake Donation to MNC

Buderim Rotary is very proud to have been able to donate 5 cartons of Lions Christmas cakes to Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre today. The cakes will be included in hampers for people who are really struggling, or homeless, this Christmas.

The donation ticks a couple of boxes as it not only helps out those in need, but it also supports Buderim Lions in the work they do in our local community.

Win/Win!

Buderim Carols in The Park ’24

The locals flocked out to enjoy the wonderful Christmas festivities

Another fantastic Buderim Carols event. A HUGE thankyou to BWMCA, Andrew & team for bringing such joy to our community.

Thankyou to all who indulged in a Buderim Rotary Burger. Your support allows us to do things like contribute to the Giving Tree, organized by 4556 Chamber of Commerce, for those families in our community with children who will be struggling to make ends meet this Christmas.

Santa’s Helpers, Ken Grant & Malcolm Dean, thoroughly enjoyed delivering the goods!

REVAMPED BBQ TRAILER

In 2010 one of our original members, Graeme Ensoll, built Buderim Rotary’s BBQ Trailer, & the old girl has served our community well. However, to maintain her dignity, an overhaul was sadly in need.

Graeme Ensoll & Len Bidstrup building the original BBQ trailer in 2010

So, the boys donned hammer & drill, & reminiscent of a Snow White scenario, they “Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho”-ed their way off to work. The result is a BBQ Trailer which will no doubt draw admiration (& possibly a touch of jealousy) from every NFP, BBQ-endowed club on The Coast. She is truly magnificent!

So, when you see our spiffy new BBQ Trailer on the road (& you will certainly see her), know that we are heading off to work for our community.

A big “Thankyou” to the Buderim Foundation as their support enabled us to have our cover made.

Thankyou, Graeme Ensoll, for building our very sturdy trailer.

DG’s Visit & Volunteers Awards

What a great way to start the day with a visit to Alex Rotary Club for the District Governor’s Visit. Can now understand why Alex Members laud their early morning start (6.45am), & their magnificent venue. Hard to beat a piping hot breaky wrap, a magnificent sea view, & the company of many friendly Rotarians. Listening to what our clubs have been doing, & what we have planned, it’s pretty obvious we’re in for a great Rotary year.

The gauntlet has been thrown! Will Alex or Buderim Rotary win the Barefoot Bowls Challenge thrown down by Buderim President Ken? Buderim of course!

President Ken accepts Volunteer Organization of the Year certificate.

Very proud to have our club nominated for the Volunteer Organization of the year. Whilst we didn’t win, it’s wonderful to be counted among so many fantastic, selfless people working tirelessly for the betterment of our community. No wonder Buderim has such an amazing community feel.

Chris Scott – Egypt Adventure

At today’s meeting Chris Scott did us the honor of being our Guest Speaker once again. We always enjoy Chris’s presentations as they are entertaining as well as informative.

Chris is the Executive Director of Volunteering Qld, & has spoken to us previously about his role in the organization & the service they provide. However, his presentation today was about his recent trip to Egypt which was of interest to those members who had visited there, & those planning on going – & those NOW planning on going. His enthusiasm for the amazing landscape & spectacular structures was evident & made for a great presentation.

Thanks Chris & we look forward to getting a recap on your next adventure!

JAN LAWTON

We always enjoy having our newer members as Guest Speaker as it gives us an opportunity to learn more about them.

We were honored to have Jan Lawton join our club recently as she is an outstanding Rotarian who has contributed so much to the organization & is a shining example of ‘Service Above Self’.

Jan had been a member of Woombye/Palmwoods for 28 years, as well as being President 8 times, before the club’s recent closure. She has an extensive Rotary career including being Assistant Governor for 3 years, Area Governor for 2, as well as several Chair positions at District level.

Jan has received the coveted Paul Harris Fellow award 5 times & is also the recipient of the Rotary International Citation for Avenues of Service.

Proud to have you as a member of our club, Jan.

2024 Handover Dinner

Last night the #rotaryclubofbuderim had their Handover event where the existing President hands over the reigns to the new President & Board Members who will lead us through the coming year.
As usual, Anthony & Fiona at Piccalilli’s in Buderim amazed us with how they managed to serve up a delicious 3-course meal, with perfect timing, with just the two of them. These guys are incredible!

As outgoing President, Clive, presented his report, it was very satisfying to recap on how our club has contributed to our local community & how the fellowship within the club continues to thrive.

Congratulations to Joan Jackson & Ken Grant for both receiving the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Deserving accolades for two people who work tirelessly for Rotary. Their contribution to our club, & our community, is commendable. Well done guys!

Lynne Phillips receives the Les Day Award

Accolades also to Lynne Phillips on being presented with the Les Day award. Lynne is one of the original members of #buderimrotary & the contribution she has made to the club over the years is unsurpassed. Well done Lynne Phillips!

Our Members are very excited about the year ahead under the guidance of new President Ken Grant. Ken’s positivity, enthusiasm & strong work ethic stand us in good stead for an excellent year.

If you’re looking for a way to become more involved in our local community, or simply wanting to develop friendships, joining Rotary could be just the ticket! If you like the idea of ‘Socializing with a Purpose’, come along to one of our meetings & see what we’re all about. Now is the perfect time as we start the new Rotary year. New Members are our lifeblood.
