AUG ’25

Well, the Buderim Street Party is back with a vengeance!  What a fantastic effort from the Buderim Lion’s team.  An event as amazing as that doesn’t just fall into place without a lot of hard work.  Congratulations Lions!

Buderim Rotary’s sausage sizzle at the Street Party was very successful; so much so that we ran out of snags!  Though there was certainly a delicious array of food vendors there, the affordable & fast feed that we offered was certainly in demand.  We are always grateful to the Buderim Community for supporting us and also to Buderim Lions for allowing us to be a part of this event.  Now on to the next fund-raiser!

Waiting for the onslaught at The Street Party

Foote Sanctuary and Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre have both put their hand up to take advantage of our Bunnings BBQ Community Support project.  On the 1st September we will once again fire up the BBQ at Bunnings Maroochydore in support of the Sanctuary, and later in the month again for MNC.  All organizations must do is supply two workers for each of the two shifts, and our skilled BBQ technicians will do everything else.  Money for jam!

Although we enthusiastically promote our work for the local community, Buderim Rotary also supports Rotary International’s global initiatives, and this month we proudly contributed $2000 towards the Rotary PolioPlus campaign.  Aside from a polio eradication focus, the “plus” represents additional global aid utilizing the Polio eradication structure and network, e.g. the distribution of additional medical treatment, or bed nets for prevention of malaria, a catastrophic disease which, worldwide, kills approximately one child every two minutes. It was estimated that vitamin A drops given to children at the same time as the polio vaccine have prevented 1.25 million deaths by decreasing susceptibility to infectious diseases.  Rotary PolioPlus helps fund and facilitate the global network that enables the fight against these preventable diseases through education, vaccination, clean water and hygiene, and Buderim Rotary Club proudly supports this initiative.

Euphoria builds among our Members in anticipation of one of our favourite events on the Buderim calendar – Jazz in The Park on Sunday the 28th September.  The BWMCA has once again invited us to fire up The Big Blue Barbie and feed the hungry masses with our delicious burgers.  These burgers are truly a culinary masterpiece worthy of a Masterchef finale, so make sure you pop on over to the van, grab a burger or two, and sit back to enjoy the fantastic lineup of talent the BWMCA has in store.
