February ’25

Well, that’s another Australia Day Picnic in The Park done and dusted, and what a fantastic event it was.

Yet again, it was inspiring and rewarding to see so many coming together in celebration of Australia, and simply enjoying the entertainment, displays, food, BWMCA Bar and Bendigo Bank Fireworks.  Buderim Rotary would like to offer a huge ‘Thankyou’ to all who participated in making this event so successful, particularly our Sponsors Bendigo Community Bank, Brent Mickelberg, Sunshine Coast Council, QuEvents, and the National Australia Day Council, without all of whom this event could not happen.

Our Supporter, 104.9FM, was yet again vital in spreading the word.  We can run around town sticking up banners, posters and corflutes until the cows come home, but it’s their radio coverage that really gets the message out.

The stage activities are the main focus of the event, and we are very much indebted to our Stage Manager, John Murdoch, for his professionalism and hard work.  John works with the organizing committee and QuEvents, throughout the process and his experience is invaluable.  Once again, our MC, Craig Allingham, did a stellar job keeping the audience informed and entertained with his usual aplomb and wit.

The packed dancefloor was testament to the audience’s appreciation of the bands, and as the evening drew towards the culminating fireworks display, local soprano, Michelle Bull, set spines a-tingling as the audience joined her in the very patriotic ‘We Are Australian’ followed by the National Anthem.

Our event Photographer, Ellen from ‘Images by Ellen’, did a great job capturing the spirit of the celebration.  She has made all the photos readily available for downloading from a link on our website www.rotaryclubofbuderim.com, so have a look – you might feature!

Each year we tweak this event to ensure it remains as one of the premier events on The Coast, and we already have ideas for next Australia Day, so mark the diary!
