ROTARY CLUB of BUDERIM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

May \u201925 Happenings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

May has been a productive, albeit challenging, month for Buderim Rotary, with Members on holidays, off on Rotary business out west, and others a bit under the weather.  Nevertheless, under the banner of \u2018Service Above Self\u2019, and with the help of a few ring-ins who graciously stepped into the breach, we were able to trojan on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early in the month we launched our new Bunnings BBQ Support project where we offer our BBQ expertise and manpower to local clubs in need of funds but who are unable to take advantage of this great fund-raiser.  We ask that they provide just two helpers for both the morning and afternoon shifts, and we will supply all other labour, food, drinks utensils etc.  It really is a great way to raise funds for your group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buderim Scouts were the first local group to take advantage of this offer and were lucky enough to score a very busy day which proved to be quite lucrative for them. Local groups can go to our website to register their interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our second BBQ for May saw us raising money for our flood-effected farmers in Western Qld.  Thanks to the generosity of the local community, we were able to contribute substantial amounts to the Pay4aPanel\/ Gidgee Smith appeal where the money goes directly to the farmers to cover the costs associated with clearing and rebuilding their fences before restocking.  We also donated to the Rotary Flood Relief Appeal which has been established to help the families get back on their feet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That amazing volunteer organization, BlazeAid, is working with the effected communities helping to rebuild the fencing so that farmers can restock their cattle.  There is thousands of kilometres of fencing damaged beyond repair, and a desperate need for workers to both clear the debris, build the new fences and cater to the hungry volunteers.  We are proud to say that four of our dedicated, hard-working members, without hesitation, coupled up their vans and headed off to Quilpie proudly supported by Buderim Rotary.  It has certainly been no holiday for them with early starts, hard, physical work, cooking, cleaning, and let\u2019s not even get started on the flies!!  But they all agree that the gratitude of the local families makes it very worthwhile.  It is the support of our local community that enables us to offer this assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are now gearing up for the fabulous Dogs Day Out on the 1st<\/sup> June where we will once again be cooking up our delicious, fresh hamburgers.  This event is growing every year and has become a \u2018must-do\u2019 on the Buderim calendar \u2013 just ask your dog!  So, leash-up your pooch and come along for a fabulous day \u2013 and don\u2019t forget to grab a burger!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may see our giant Club banner at various locations around town; this is our reminder to the community that we urgently need members to enable us to continue to \u2018work for our community\u2019.  So, if you like the idea of becoming more involved in our local community, whilst building some great friendships, pop along to one of our meetings at the Buderim Tavern function room on a Friday, to see what we\u2019re all about.  Or, come and have a coffee with us after the meeting at Mint Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
